Siebel Reports is a complex topic, potentially made more complex by the replacement of Actuate by BI Publisher as the standard report delivery tool for Siebel. However, real expertise ensures a successful deployment, no matter which tool you are using.

• BI Publisher
  
  From Siebel 8.1.1 forward, Actuate is not part of Siebel and Siebel Reports are delivered via Oracle’s BI Publisher Tool. (Some options exist to carry forward pre-existing Actuate Reports.) There is a comprehensive integration of Siebel and BI Publisher, and anything that was achievable via Actuate should also be possible in BI Publisher. Report layout is significantly easier in BI Publisher and this is now more of a Business Analyst orientated task. However, for more complex reports there is still very significant knowledge required to assemble the data before it is passed to the layout tool. We are very expert at the techniques involved and, with our unique Siebel and Siebel Reporting knowledge, are better placed than anyone else to assist in the creation of complex Siebel Reports in BI Publisher.
  
  
• Actuate
  
  Actuate is the standard report delivery tool in Siebel 8.0 and earlier. It is made up of a very functionally rich set of products but it takes real knowledge to unlock that functionality and deploy it for maximum advantage. Customer Systems has that knowledge. Our expertise is the result of more than eight years of experience with the Actuate product suite. There is almost no aspect of Actuate that we have not implemented somewhere. We have a particularly high level of expertise in deploying Actuate in a Siebel environment. In fact, we have never encountered a Siebel Reports requirement that we could not satisfy. When we first got involved in using Siebel Reports most organisations thought that the product could only produce simple reports. Frighteningly, this is still sometimes the case. Having now completed over 150 reporting assignments, and invented many new techniques along the way, we have pretty much written the book on how to do it!
  
  
• Migration
  
  As the real experts in both Actuate and BI Publisher in a Siebel environment, we are ideally placed to assist organisations in migrating their Siebel Reports from Actuate to BI Publisher. It is worth noting that although the natural time to swap might be when moving to Siebel 8.1.1 or higher, the intention is to make it possible to gain the benefits of BI Publisher even before upgrading to 8.1.1.
